There are still thrushes in the Llama fields and the Mistle thrush count went up to 4 today. This is more than you would get in twelve months under normal circumstances. The sea has also gone very quiet with little passing at the moment. There were 2 Great black backed gulls feeding off 2 seperate Auk corpses at Clodgy this afternoon and also a Common scoter settled there.
In my garden there are now 3 Blackcaps coming to the fat feeder, 1 male 2 females but they only come singly and when 2 arrive together there tends to be a bit of a scrap.

  1. Like your new header!

I saw a small bird of prey hovering on The Island today. Viewed close by but below (from Porthmeor beach) it was hard to make out markings or colour, but seemed quite dark on the head and back.

  2. That would be a Kestrel Lesley. It's the only British bird of prey that hovers and there is usually one around the island in the winter.

  3. Nice spot on the Mistle Thrushes Richard still looking for my first for the year, and yes I have not seen any Stonechats whilst moving around which is quite strange. Anyway lets hope the coming cold spell will not do any more damage esp to the Cirls and Dartfords.
