Revised List

I last revised my patch list about 12 months ago a year after starting my patch here in St Ives. Just to re cap this is a list of birds that I have seen myself within 2 miles of my front door and by walking only.
Twelve months ago the list stood at 121 and this year I have added 14 species.
They are...
Slavonian Grebe
Great white egret
Goosander
Wigeon
Osprey
Dunlin
Redshank
Green sandpiper
Stone curlew
Green woodpecker
Nightjar
Pied flycatcher
Spotted flycatcher
Bullfinch
Lapland bunting

I'm fairly pleased with that but I'm not expecting to add so many this year but you never know. The right conditions at the right time of year can throw up all sorts of surprises.
I'm going to try and concentrate on the breeding birds of the area too this year, so plenty to get my teeth in to.

  1. You have at least another 80 to go before things get sparse. Good coastal patches like yours can knock up 200 given time...At Druridge here in Northumbs, see Ipin blog, we had a race one year and had 170 sp in 12 months on a 1km square. You will have some great suprises in store...

  2. Some impressive birds there added to your local list - stone curlew seems exceptional to me.

  3. I did some research Jude and from what I can make out your redstarts are Black redstarts too except I think you get them all year round,
