Stop start migration

Spring passage continues to stutter along with Chiff chaffs being the most notable arrivals during the past week or so along with occasional Wheatears and Black redstarts.
The first Sandwich terns put in an appearance on Wednesday evening when there were six feeding around Porthmeor and Mans head and the first Swallow went through yesterday morning along with a few Sand martins.
This morning all the action was at sea where Gannets, Fulmars and Auks were passing West in good numbers. Along with these were a first summer Little gull, 2 first summer Common gulls, a couple of dozen Lesser black backs and a second summer Mediterranean gull.
In addition 3 Sandwich terns were feeding off Porthmeor, a Great northern diver was on the sea there also and an early Common sandpiper was on the rocks at Mans head.
There are still, rather worryingly, no Stonechats although Linnet numbers have increased this week.

Meadow and Rock pipits have been pairing up and displaying and their numbers seem to be healthy again this year.
